Shinty players excitedly awaiting list of postponed games and walkovers
Shinty players from all across the Highlands and Aberdour (really? Amazing what Wikipedia tells you) are excitedly preparing for the publication by the Camanachd Association of the list of games which will be postponed due to weather, rearranged to the same day as a wedding or conceded by the opposition.
“Ah canna wait mun. As long as the wife doesn’t haul me in to put up the shed, I’ll be in the pub.” said Caberfeidh Swing-Back Gary MacKenzie.
“The cup draws give you that added incentive like. No team from the South will bother coming up for a cup tie at Cabers. Bring back winter shinty I say, this summer stuff it’s no workin’.”
Lower league clubs like Inverness, Lewis and Boleskine have handily already had P-P placed next to their names on the list, alongside the whole of South Division Two.
A Camanachd Association spokesman said “We’re always trying to improve the system for fixture scheduling. This year’s list will also highlight the specific fixtures where Newtonmore will throw a strop, Kyles will bottle their league challenge, Skye get relegated,Oban Camanachd will have a treble sending off and Kingussie roll out Ronald Ross for a game.”
“And don’t worry, we have scheduled all the games for November already. Except for the two week stoppage for the shinty-hurling of course.”
