Chuck D., Rihanna appear on new Mànran single

Gaelic Supergroup Mànran have released a new single with guest appearances by hip-hop veteran Chuck D of Public Enemy and Queen of R&B Rihanna.

The song “Fear of a Craic Planet” sees the Trad powerhouses engage in their riskiest collaboration since former singer Norrie MacIver got hot and steamy in the video for Take You There with Michelle McManus.

Chuck D. drops some of his best rhymes since Apocalypse 91 The Enemy Strikes Black, with a verse which talks about his favourite old-style hoist-loading Calmac vessels, paying homage to one of his most famous rhymes, “Most of my ferries don’t have roll-on roll-off ramps”

Playing on her famous Hebridean Meme, Rihanna sings about getting her hands on her new lover’s “croit”, intoning “Bodach betta have ma money” over a catchy Ewen Henderson fiddle riff, with her smoky Bajan pipes mingling with Craig Irving’s own melodious vocals.

When asked to comment on his band’s new direction, Gary Innes said “BRILLIANT!”
