Argyll Pothole becomes top Spelunking Destination
As road surfaces deteriorate across Scotland one pothole near Oban has found fame and a new lease of life as a top spelunking destination.
Spelunking involves traversing deadly unexplored caverns hundreds of feet deep. Argyll’s roads provide this in abundance.
Spelunkers (spelunkerists?) have descended on the area from across Scotland, most choosing to come by train over arriving without wheels.
The conditions of Argyll’s roads have been described proudly as somewhere between Swiss cheese and Max Max Fury Road.
“Shit for cars, great for spelunking” reads Argyll and Bute Council new slogan in their “Visit Argyll but not by car or bus” brochure.
“We weren’t going to fill it, but we definitely won’t now, yas!”
